Free AI in French: the guide I built, and where it lives now

From August to October 2026, this page was my guide to free AI tools for French. On 19 October 2026 the comparison, the selector and the French test moved to AI Jungle OS, the AI Jungle publication that tests tools. This page keeps the record of what I built.

What I built, and when

  1. First version on this journal: a decision matrix for choosing a free assistant in French.
  2. Rebuilt from one data file. Each line named what one of six assistants gave for free, linked to the official page I read that day. I tried to send the same French prompt to every tool without an account; chatgpt.com, Copilot and Duck.ai blocked it, so the page published no quality score.
  3. The selector branched on the need: three questions for a learner, five for a writer, each path checked against a written table of expected answers. A five-check card let readers score each tool themselves.
  4. Plan details refreshed.
  5. Moved to AI Jungle OS, where the five checks were then run on the models behind the free plans.

Why it moved

This site is my portfolio: who I am, what I build and the decisions I keep. Tool tests and comparisons belong on AI Jungle OS, which publishes verdicts on the tools we run. A comparison has to be refreshed every month; a portfolio entry records what was done, and stays true.

What stayed human: Deciding that a page without a test publishes no score.
